What we liked most during testing wasn’t just the graphics, but how the city feels like a place with its own rhythm. NPCs, traffic, ads, and the soundscape work well together, so Cyberpunk 2077 rarely feels like an empty backdrop. It’s the kind of open-world design that keeps you hanging around longer than you planned.
The story of V and Johnny Silverhand still holds up
You play as V, a mercenary chasing cash, status, and survival in Night City. The story kicks into gear when Johnny Silverhand becomes central to the narrative, giving the game far more personality than many other open-world RPGs. The official description also highlights V’s struggle against the city’s powerful forces as the core of the experience.
The strongest element isn’t just the main plot, but also the many side missions. Several of them are better written than whole main stories in other games. Cyberpunk 2077 is actually at its best when it gives you time to get to know the supporting characters and lets you feel that your choices have weight.
Skill trees, implants, and combat make the game far sharper
CD PROJEKT RED overhauled several of the game’s core systems with the big 2.0 update, including reworking the perk trees and police system. You can feel it. Combat is more focused, your character build feels more important, and there’s a better reason to specialize instead of just picking a bit of everything.
In practice, that means you can play Cyberpunk 2077 in very different ways. You can go the stealth route, build into pure hacking, lean on heavy weapons, or create a more aggressive, fast melee style. The implants make it even more fun because they don’t just raise stats—they actually change how you tackle missions.
On Windows 11 we especially found that combat feels much better today than in the early version of the game. Not perfect all the time, but noticeably more controlled and satisfying.
Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t just gorgeous—it’s also far more mature now
Cyberpunk 2077 remains one of the most visually impressive games, especially on powerful hardware. But the most important thing today is almost that it technically works as a more cohesive product. Recent patches have continued to add improvements and fixes, including to Photo Mode, vehicles, performance, and platform support. Update 2.2 added over 100 new character customization options and expanded Photo Mode, while newer patches have also supported DLSS 4 on PC and further technical optimizations.
That’s important because Cyberpunk 2077 long had a reputation for huge potential with uneven delivery. That story isn’t completely gone, but it no longer reflects how the game comes across today.

Cyberpunk 2077 becomes significantly more fun when you decide on a playstyle early. In our testing on Windows 11 it worked best to commit to either hacking, stealth, or heavy weapons instead of spreading your points too thin. It gives better direction to both combat and your progression.
Some of the best content in Cyberpunk 2077 lives outside the main story. Several side quests have better dialogue, stronger characters, and more edge than you’d expect. We often ended up sticking with small quest lines that actually made Night City feel more alive and memorable.
It sounds basic, but Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those games where it really pays not to just follow the minimap. Walk around, drive aimlessly, and notice the sound, light, ads, and small details in each district. That’s where the game’s atmosphere truly hits.
Implants aren’t just small bonuses in the background. They tangibly change how you can approach missions and move in combat. If the game starts to feel repetitive, it’s often a sign you haven’t gotten enough out of the cyberware system yet.
Cyberpunk 2077 can run on a wide range of systems, but it still benefits greatly from strong hardware. With a good PC or newer console, you’ll get far more out of the atmosphere, visuals, and smooth gameplay—especially the lighting, reflections, and city detail.
