Shao Khan has won. Earthrealm is no more. To resurrect his queen, Sindel, Emperor Shao Khan used the Outworld Tournament from Mortal Kombat 2 as a distraction while his shadow priests revive the fallen queen. He then connects the two realms with an interdimensional bridge, so Khan’s extermination army can invade and destroy Earth, enslaving the souls of its people. A small team of Raiden’s chosen warriors survives the assault: Mortal Kombat champion Liu Kang and his ally Kung Lao, Special Forces agents Sonya Blade and JAX, and others. It is now their mission to save the world.
Mortal Kombat 3 is the last traditional one-on-one fighting game in the series.
