DropIt is a handy tool that can automatically tidy up and sort your files. That way, you can keep things organized so vacation photos and school assignments always stay in the right folder. The program is free for Windows, and in our test we installed it on a PC with Windows 7 64-bit.
After installation, the DropIt icon automatically appears on your desktop. Here’s how it works: drag one or more files or programs onto the icon to perform a specific action. By right-clicking the icon, you can set up preferred file types and rules—for example, you can specify that .txt files should be placed in a particular folder on your hard drive. There are many other features, and DropIt can be configured for almost anything, but that’s the general idea.
