With Folder Colorizer, a free Windows download, you can color-code your folders.

By default, all folders in Windows look the same, which can make the desktop feel bland over time. Power users know you can right-click an icon and customize it, but that is too involved for most people. The 1 app for Windows promises to make it much simpler.

The idea behind Folder Colorizer is that with a single right-click you can personalize any folder with the color you want. Unfortunately, it did not work well in our test on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. After installation, Folder Colorizer only affected the first two or three folders; after that, nothing happened whenever we picked a color. Restarting the PC or reinstalling the program did not fix the issue.

On paper, Folder Colorizer is a neat concept, but based on this test we cannot recommend it. It may work better on your PC with a different version of Windows.
