🏗️ Constructor – Strategic chaos with dark humor and a building obsession.
Constructor, released by System 3 in 1997, is a unique mix of city-building strategy, resource management, and tactical mischief—wrapped in coarse, very British humor. You play as the owner of a fledgling construction company, expanding your property portfolio, keeping tenants happy (or not!), competing with rivals—and doing whatever it takes to become the city’s top developer.
It sounds like SimCity... but it’s really SimCity meets The Godfather.
🔨 Build, rent out, and rule the neighborhood
The goal in Constructor is to build residential and commercial properties, attract tenants, and secure income—while fending off up to three rival construction companies looking to sabotage you with thugs, strikes, and arson.
You’ll need to:
- Expand factories and lumber mills for raw materials
- Hire workers, foremen, and police
- Rent out homes to different tenant types
- Deploy unique “characters” to wreak havoc on your rivals
It’s about economy, strategy, and dirty tricks—and that’s what makes Constructor truly special.
😈 Unwanted tenants and sabotage
Constructor stands out for its “problem tenants” and “special units”. You can send:
- Hippies to throw wild parties at the neighbor’s place
- Gangsters to extort tenants
- Psychopaths to spread fear
- Clowns (yes, really) to stir up trouble
You can also have your own tenants move out if they don’t pay the rent—using whatever means you have at your disposal...
🎨 Graphics and audio with an edge
Constructor’s graphics are isometric and colorful, yet packed with dark, coarse humor—run-down apartment blocks, drunk builders, and dirty tricks. It’s all backed by funny sound effects, voice acting, and music that perfectly fit the game’s satirical tone.
💻 Play today on modern systems
Constructor is still playable today—in the classic version via, for example, GOG.com, and in an updated HD version with high-resolution support and modern operating systems.
