ZenKEY is a free, open-source utility for Windows that claims to streamline your time at the computer through keyboard shortcuts. Because it’s a popular free tool, we tried it ourselves to see whether ZenKEY is really worth your time. Our test was performed on a PC running Windows 7 64-bit.
As mentioned, ZenKEY lets you control your PC with hotkeys—for example, opening an application or centering a window. That all sounds great, but the interface is packed with advanced commands most users don’t need, and ZenKEY doesn’t introduce you to any of them. In addition, we encountered an error message every time we tried to use the built-in tool to configure the program to our liking.
ZenKEY is an interesting program that, unfortunately, doesn’t get very far with its current interface. If you still want to give it a shot, we recommend reading the included help file first.
