Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! – Rincewind returns for more chaos.
Death is missing—and it quickly becomes a problem
In Discworld II: Mortality Bytes!, you once again step into the shoes of the inept yet lovable wannabe wizard Rincewind, who—as always—gets unwillingly dragged into an absurd adventure. This time, Death (yes, the Grim Reaper himself) has gone on vacation, leaving souls stranded in a strange limbo between life and death. It’s up to Rincewind to track him down and restore order to the Discworld universe.
A worthy sequel to the first Discworld game
The game builds on the successful mix of classic point-and-click gameplay, a generous dose of British humor, and Terry Pratchett’s offbeat universe. With a more focused story and improved visuals, Mortality Bytes! is both a continuation and an upgrade over the first game in the series.
Hand-drawn art and top-tier voice acting
The backgrounds are beautifully hand-drawn with lavish detail that brings Discworld’s many silly and whimsical locations to life. The voice acting—featuring Eric Idle (of Monty Python) as Rincewind—elevates the experience and makes the game a genuine pleasure to play, even for those who don’t usually dive into the adventure genre.
Gameplay: Puzzles and madness
Discworld II is a classic “pixel-hunting” point-and-click adventure. You’ll need to find and use items in the right places and in the correct order—often a hilariously illogical order, which is part of the charm. The puzzles are funny but at times frustratingly tough, demanding patience and, ideally, a good notepad.
Love Discworld or Monkey Island? Then this is a must-play!
The game is a treat for fans of Pratchett’s books, but it also works as a standalone experience for anyone who just wants a fun and different adventure game. If you’ve enjoyed games like Monkey Island, 1 or Kyrandia, you’ll feel right at home in Discworld II.
