Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar’s next big open-world game, taking us back to Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida.
After years of rumors, leaks, and trailer breakdowns, GTA 6 is no longer just an internet mystery. Rockstar has officially revealed the game, protagonists Jason and Lucia, and the new version of Vice City, and the current release date is set for November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has not yet been officially announced.
We’ve reviewed Rockstar’s official materials, trailers, and the latest information, and one thing is clear: GTA 6 isn’t just “more GTA.” It looks significantly bigger, more cinematic, and more detailed than GTA 5—while also aiming to make the world more believable, more alive, and more unpredictable.
Vice City returns in a modern form
GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida, with Vice City once again playing a central role. This time, the city feels far more alive than the version many remember from GTA: Vice City. Jason and Lucia add a new dynamic to the story
GTA 6 follows Jason and Lucia, who get caught in a criminal spiral after a heist goes wrong. Rockstar describes them as two people who must rely on each other to survive a larger conspiracy in Leonida.
Lucia is especially notable as the most prominent female lead in a modern GTA game. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick, but a central part of the narrative. The relationship between Jason and Lucia clearly has Bonnie & Clyde vibes, and the trailer hints at a story filled with crime, loyalty, and mistrust.
That could be one of the biggest differences from GTA 5. Where GTA 5 worked with three very different protagonists, GTA 6 looks set to lean into chemistry, dependency, and the tension between two characters who can’t always trust the world around them—or each other.
Gameplay: more realism, still GTA-style chaos

Rockstar hasn’t yet revealed exactly how online play will work in GTA 6. GTA Online has been a massive success for more than a decade, so it would be surprising if GTA 6 didn’t get a substantial online component.
The real question is whether Rockstar builds on GTA Online, creates a completely new version, or gradually moves players into a new online universe. The most likely scenario is that GTA 6 becomes the start of a long-running platform for online content with heists, vehicles, properties, events, and regular updates.
We especially hope for a cleaner launch than GTA Online had back in the day. Less grind, fewer inflated prices, and better options for casual players would suit the series.
