Master of Orion

Master of Orion – Classic 4X strategy on a galactic scale

Master of Orion is a cornerstone of the 4X genre (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) and a world-class turn-based strategy game where you lead a spacefaring civilization from its humble beginnings to total dominance of the galaxy. If you enjoyed Master of Magic but prefer stars and planets over wizards and dragons, then Master of Orion is your game.

You start by choosing a race, which shapes your strategy and play style:

  • 🔧 Meklar – efficient, industrious machine lifeforms with production front and center
  • 🧠 Psilon – knowledge-hungry intellectuals and masters of research
  • 🫱 Humans – diplomatic and strong negotiators with other races

From there, you begin with a single colony and must expand your interstellar empire. Every decision counts: How will you allocate your resources? Should they go to technological research, military buildup, colonization, or diplomacy?

The game blends deep strategy with a clear, intuitive interface, and you'll quickly be drawn into the many possibilities: researching advanced technologies, managing colonies and planets, ship design, negotiating with other races, and epic space battles when diplomacy fails.

Master of Orion is not just a game about war, but also one about long-term planning, culture, and balance — and it still stands as one of the most influential titles in the strategy genre.
