PeaZip is a free, open-source file archiver for extracting files, including ZIP and RAR.
We all know how frustrating it is when there isn’t an app installed to open a specific archive type, such as RAR. You’ve probably heard of the ZIP format—it’s usually not an issue anymore because most operating systems support it—but there are also many tools out there with even more functionality. PeaZip is one of them.
During setup, PeaZip offered to install optional extra software, but it was possible to decline everything. The interface impressed us by combining power and clarity in a really good way. You can quickly compress, open, or convert an archive, and there are plenty of other features, including support for more than 150 file types.
Based on our brief test with PeaZip, it seems like a really solid program. It’s easy to use, and you no longer have to worry about RAR files.
