Rayman: Origins – A magical 2D platformer
Rayman: Origins is a colorful and entertaining platformer from Ubisoft, where classic 2D visuals meet modern animation and playful mechanics. Originally launched as a tribute to the classic Rayman games of the ’90s, it still delivers one of the best platforming experiences in recent years.
Gameplay and features
We tested Rayman: Origins on a standard Windows 11 PC and experienced surprisingly smooth, lag-free gameplay. The game supports both controller and keyboard, and it can be played in co-op with up to four players — perfect for family nights or relaxed gaming sessions with friends.
You control Rayman and his loyal friend Globox as they battle evil creatures to save the enchanted lands. The gameplay is precise, fast, and varied, requiring both timing and creativity to make it through the many levels.
Graphics and art

The art in Rayman: Origins is hand-drawn and bursting with color and imagination. Every area — from Gibberish Jungle to Gourmand Land — feels like a living painting. Ubisoft preserved the charm of the old games but wrapped it in a modern, fluid HD style that still impresses more than a decade later.
Challenge and controls
The controls are razor-sharp, and the precision makes it possible to beat even the most hectic levels. Some sections can be frustratingly tough — especially if you’re chasing every Electoon (the game’s collectibles). But that’s exactly where Rayman: Origins shows its depth — easy to start, hard to master.
Rayman: Origins remains timeless
Even though Rayman: Origins has a few years behind it, it still feels fresh. Ubisoft nailed the balance between retro and innovation, and the game holds up beautifully from a technical standpoint. The soundtrack is also worth highlighting — it’s comedic, epic, and wonderfully composed.
Top 5 tips for Rayman: Origins
Each level hides secret passages and Electoons you’ll only find by checking walls and caves. Listen for distinct sound cues — they often reveal hidden rooms.
Many levels require you to exploit momentum, especially when jumping from wall to wall. Practice your timing — a perfect wall-jump can save you from a fall and help you find extra collectibles.
Each level contains 350 Lums — collect them all to earn a gold medal and unlock bonus stages. Use the music’s rhythm as a guide when jumping to grab more in a row.
If you’re stuck on a difficult level, co-op can save you. Teammates can revive you, take alternate routes, and help collect Electoons faster.
Rayman’s glide (hold the jump button) is the key to precise landings and avoiding enemies. Combine it with wall-jumps for maximum control.
