Teach your kids math with TuxMath, a free math game for Windows. You can also download a Mac version here.
TuxMath, also known as "Tux, of Math Command," is a free math game starring Tux the penguin, who also appears in many other programs. While TuxMath is primarily aimed at children, we still had plenty of fun with it, and it’s available for both Mac and PC. Linux users can visit the developer's website to find a version for their operating system.
The gameplay is a bit like Tetris, as you shoot down math problems that attack the player's igloos. You simply type the correct number on the keyboard, and if you're too slow, you lose. Fortunately, there are multiple difficulty levels, so almost everyone can get something out of TuxMath.
The game was easy to install on our Windows 7 PC, but it simply would not open on a MacBook Pro running the latest version of OS X Mavericks. Therefore, we cannot recommend TuxMath for our Mac users, but overall it was solid entertainment on Windows.
