Explore the Moon with Virtual Moon Atlas, available as a free download. There’s also a version for Windows here.
How much do you know about the Moon? With Virtual Moon Atlas—open-source and free—you can study and visualize the Moon right from your Windows PC or Mac. There’s also a version for Linux users, available on the developer’s official website here.
During our testing on Windows, Virtual Moon Atlas automatically opened a help file after installation, which is definitely useful for new users. The app itself is very similar to Google Earth, letting you rotate and explore nearly everything on the Moon’s surface, including crater names, size, and location. However, it’s likely geared more toward lunar and space experts, who may be more familiar with this subject.
Overall, Virtual Moon Atlas comes across as an intriguing program that we can readily recommend to all Moon and space enthusiasts.
