EA Sports FC 26 gameplay with players in action on the pitch and a realistic stadium atmosphere

EA Sports FC 26

EA Sports FC 26 – the new FIFA game everyone still calls FIFA 26

EA Sports FC 26 is the latest entry in EA’s soccer series and the continuation of what many in Denmark still call FIFA. The game is out now, and we tested EA Sports FC 26 to see whether it finally feels like the natural next step after the FIFA era—or just another annual update.

In short: FC 26 is the biggest leap forward since the rebrand. Not perfect, but clearly more mature, more tactical, and more lifelike than FC 25.

Gameplay and feel

EA Sports FC 26 match moment focusing on ball control, animations, and player movement

Gameplay in EA Sports FC 26 feels calmer and more controlled than before. The pace is slightly reduced, but off-the-ball movement, passing patterns, and positioning are far more considered.

In our tests on both PC and console, we especially noticed:

  • Better timing in runs and pressing
  • Less “ping-pong” in midfield
  • More realistic duels and second balls

It’s clear EA focused on making matches feel like real soccer—not just quick-fire animations.

FC IQ and role-based tactics

The biggest gameplay addition is FC IQ, which fundamentally changes how your team behaves on the pitch. Instead of players merely reacting to the ball, they now analyze match context in real time.

In practice, that means:

  • The defense drops deeper if you’re leading late
  • The midfield presses more aggressively if you’re behind
  • Teammates find smarter spaces during buildup

FC 26 also introduces a role-based system where players get defined roles such as tactical orchestrator, pressing specialist, or transition player. It makes a noticeable difference—especially in Career Mode and Ultimate Team—delivering much deeper tactics than FC 25.

Goalkeepers, PlayStyles, and realism

Goalkeepers get a much-needed upgrade in FC 26. Where keepers used to feel similar, they now show far more personality and variation.

The improvements are most obvious in:

  • More realistic positioning
  • Better reactions to close-range shots
  • Fewer absurd rebounds straight to opponents

Goalkeeper PlayStyles matter. A sweeper-keeper behaves very differently from a traditional shot-stopper, and 1v1 situations feel far more natural than in FC 25.

Rush Mode – fast-paced soccer that actually works

Rush Mode is one of the most surprising additions in EA Sports FC 26. It’s 5v5 on smaller pitches with a high tempo and constant involvement.

Unlike the old Volta modes, Rush Mode feels:

  • More serious
  • More competitive
  • Less like a side project

It’s perfect for short play sessions and works both solo and online. For many, Rush Mode will likely become the preferred alternative to classic 11v11 matches.

Ultimate Team and online experience

Ultimate Team remains the main attraction, and FC 26 refines the formula rather than reinventing it.

We experienced:

  • Faster menus
  • Cleaner squad management
  • A more balanced early game than FC 25

New Icons have been added, and progression feels less reliant on pack luck—at least for the first many hours. Online stability was generally good in our tests, with few disconnects and fair matchmaking.

Career Mode with AI-driven dialog

Career Mode gets a lift with more dynamic, AI-driven conversations and decisions. Talks with players, agents, and the board feel less repetitive and more situational.

Transfers and contracts require more planning than before, and your choices have clearer long-term consequences. It’s not a revolution, but it’s easily the best Career Mode of the FC era so far.

Denmark, the Superliga, and Danish language

Yes — the Danish Superliga is included in EA Sports FC 26. You can play with clubs such as:

  • FC København
  • Brøndby IF
  • AGF

Danish stars like Rasmus Højlund and Christian Eriksen are, of course, represented with updated ratings.

The game includes Danish menus and subtitles, but still no Danish commentary. That’s why many will keep searching for “fifa 26 superliga” or “fifa 26 with Danish teams” — and the answer is yes.

Top 5 tips for FC 26

In FC 26, player roles matter more than you think. We found far better flow when roles matched our style (e.g., pressing and transitions) instead of copying a “meta” formation. Change one thing at a time: start with your central midfield roles and feel the difference in passing lanes and pressing.

If you play FC 26 like FC 25 with constant one-touch passing, you’ll surrender possession needlessly. Once we used more support passes and switched play more often, matches became easier to control. Simple trick: think “one extra pass” in buildup before trying the risky through ball.

Rush Mode is great for rapidly learning new movements and patterns because you’re constantly involved. We actually learned pressing and quick combinations faster here than in 11v11. Play 3–5 Rush matches before going online in Ultimate Team — it’ll save you from conceding silly goals.

Keepers feel less alike in FC 26. If you press high, target a keeper comfortable as a sweeper-keeper. If you sit deep and compact, prioritize a classic shot-stopper. Online, we clearly felt the difference in 1v1s depending on the keeper type.

Career can go from chill to chaos if you wait too long. We found it smoother to handle contracts early in the season and set transfer targets before the window opens. Practical tip: make a short list of 2–3 positions to upgrade and stick to it—otherwise you’ll panic-buy the wrong player.
