DR Lyd – all of Denmark’s radio and podcasts in one place
DR Lyd is DR’s official app for radio, podcasts, and on-demand audio. It brings all DR channels, shows, and exclusive series together in one ad-free platform where you can listen live or download content for offline use.
We tested DR Lyd on Windows 11 via browser, Android phone, and iPhone, and found a fast, stable app with excellent sound quality and an intuitive design.
Features and user experience

The app gathers all DR’s radio channels — P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 Beat, P7 Mix, P8 Jazz, and P4’s regional stations.
You can listen live or restart programs from the beginning if you tuned in late.
The Podcasts section features everything from Genstart, Sara & Monopolet, Orientering, and Klog på Sprog to niche productions like Satiresnak and Tidsånd.
Offline listening works very well: we could download entire series for trips and listen without a connection. Everything syncs automatically, so you can pick up exactly where you left off — even across devices.
The search is fast and accurate, and you can mark favorites so they appear at the top of the home screen. The app also sends notifications when new episodes are released for series you follow.
Design and navigation
DR Lyd sports a modern, clean design with clear icons and large buttons that make it easy to use — including for older users.
The colors automatically match your system’s light or dark mode, and both text and images look crisp.
We tested the app on a Samsung Galaxy S22 and an iPhone 15 Pro, and in both cases it responded quickly with no lag. Navigation feels especially fluid on iPhone, while the Android version shows a slight delay of a few milliseconds when switching tabs — nothing that detracts from the experience.
AirPlay and Chromecast are built in, so you can send the audio to speakers or your TV directly from the app.
Stability and performance

In our tests, DR Lyd ran without issues.
Streams started instantly, and we had no dropouts on Wi‑Fi or 5G.
Offline playback worked flawlessly, and the app remembered our exact position — even after a restart.
A minor downside is that the app may occasionally miss notifications if it has been closed for a long time, but this is rare.
Comparison with SR Play and NRK Radio
Overall, DR Lyd feels the most modern in design, while NRK Radio is the fastest technically and SR Play offers the most international content.
DR’s strength lies in the quality of its podcasts and journalism, spanning everything from culture to current affairs.
For Danish users, DR Lyd is clearly the most natural choice — thanks to its content, interface, and tight integration with DR’s other services like DR.dk and the DR TV app.
